HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) is expanding its sports marketing activities by launching a women's professional golf team ahead of the second half of the 2026 season. The multinational constructor announced that it officially inaugurated the HJSC Golf Team, composed of KLPGA players, at a launch ceremony held on July 24 at its headquarters in Namyeong-dong, Seoul.

The new team will compete throughout the remainder of the season with five founding members. Beginning with the Aurora World Championship, the first tournament of the second half of the season, the players will participate in major domestic and international competitions wearing the HJSC logo. The team consists of KLPGA Tour players Park Ji-young, Hong Jeong-min, and Cho Ah-yeon, along with Kim Min-seo, who competes on the Dream Tour, and Park Seo-jin, a promising high school golfer.

HJSC has been pursuing the acquisition of players from the KOREIT golf team since early this year as part of its efforts to support the development of professional sports in Korea while enhancing its corporate brand. The acquisition of the KLPGA team is regarded as a strategic investment that combines brand promotion with the company's ESG initiatives.

Veteran golfer Park Ji-young is a KLPGA Tour star, having recorded 10 career victories. A former member of the Korean national reserve team, she joined the KLPGA in 2014 and has consistently performed at the highest level, earning a place in the prestigious “10-Win Club,” an achievement reached by only 15 players in KLPGA history.

Hong Jeong-min has established herself as one of the tour's leading players since joining the KLPGA in 2020. Last season, she enjoyed the best year of her career, capturing her first major championship, recording multiple tour victories, and finishing atop the season money list. Cho Ah-yeon, a former national team member and one of Korea's youngest national representatives, debuted on the KLPGA Tour in 2019, won two titles, and was named Rookie of the Year.

HJSC plans to operate the golf team not only as a sports sponsorship initiative but also as a platform for strengthening engagement with customers and the public. In addition to providing systematic support to help players enhance their competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth, the global company intends to promote its brand through pro-am tournaments, fan participation programs, and community engagement activities.

An HJSC official stated, “With the golf team, we aim to create an environment where the company, the players, our customers, and local communities can grow together.” He added, “Going forward, we will closely integrate sports marketing, ESG initiatives, and community contribution programs to further enhance both our brand and social values.”
