HANJIN Heavy Industries & Construction-Phil announced that it was honored to win Top Export Award at National Export Congress 2016 hosted by the Philippine government on November 7 after ranking 1st in machine & means of transport with US 1.3 billion dollars. It’s the second win since 2012.
Nearly 600 government officials and business representatives including Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Philippines, the Korean ambassador to the Philippines Kim Jae-shin, Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez and the chair of the Philippine Export Association Sergio Ortiz-Luis attended this event which was held at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), Manila.
Top Export Award is an annual ceremony which awards the best businesses in terms of the amount of export totaled by the Philippine Statistics Authority in 12 sectors (e.g., electricity, chemistry, food, etc.). HHIC-Phil was the only Korean firm which won this prestigious award in machine & transport. The President and CEO Chung Kwang-suk received the award at the ceremony.
An official from HANJIN Heavy Industries & Construction-Phil said, “Since HHIC’s Subic Shipyard opened in 2009, we have successfully settled in the Philippines through aggressive localization strategies.” He continued, “We are going to keep making our best efforts to raise the reputation of the Republic of Korea as a global leader in shipbuilding.”
