HANJIN Heavy Industries & Construction(HHIC)’s active employment policy and dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities paid off in a foreign country as well.


On September 29, HHIC-Phil announced that it was honored to receive a prize at the 2015 Korean CSR Awards in the Philippines organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of the Philippines.


The awards were held in a grand ballroom of Marriott Hotels Manila with the attendance of influential celebrities including Kim Jae-shi (ambassador of the Republic of Korea), Sonny Coloma (secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office) and Lilia De Lima (director general of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)).


The Korean CSR Awards were organized to encourage the exemplary CSR activities of Korean firms in the Philippines and promote friendship and economicdevelopment between the two countries.


For the awards, Korean companiesin the Philippines were assessed in five fields: harmony & co-prosperity;share happiness; future growth; anti-poverty & rescue; contribution tolocal community. HHIC-Phil won a grand prize in ‘harmony and co-prosperity’ for its contribution to the creation of a lot of jobs in HHIC-Phil’s Subic Shipyard and improvement of employees’ welfare such as the construction of ‘Hanjin Village.’ The award was given by the ambassador Kim Jae-shin. This is the


second time HHIC-Phil won a prize at the CSR awards after it received a grand prize at the Korean CSR Awards co-organized by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) in2013.


Cho Yoo-hwan, the executive director of HHIC-Phil for international cooperation, said, “HHIC-Phil has strengthened its ground in the Philippines for over four decades since 1973. During this period, we have actively promoted our employment policy and CSR activities. I am very pleased to see that our efforts are finally paying off.” He added, “We are going to keep working hard to play a bridge role for economic cooperation between the two countries through more aggressive localization strategies.”
