On May 23, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction (HJSC) held ‘Occupational Safety & Health Session for Vendor CEOs’ for win-win partnership in safety & health. 

The meeting was held at Namyeong Bldg., Seoul with the attendance of 30 CEOs from good vendors for the purpose of communication and cooperation with them. The event was proceeded with the following order: Good Vendors Awards, Occupational Safety & Health Win-Win Partnership Declaration, Good Safety & Health Cases, Announcement of Win-Win Partnership Support Plan.  

A Certificate of Merit and A Metal were awarded to one best vendor and two good vendors according to the Vendor Safety & Health Assessment. Both HJSC and vendors were committed to being active in achieving the management goal of ‘Zero Serious Accident for 4 Consecutive Years’ through the occupational safety & health win-win pledge and declaration. In addition, government experts in safety & health were invited, sharing safety & health policy directions. There also were extensive and deep exchanges on the safety & health win-win cooperation plan such as hearing of vendor problems and suggestions. 

The global shipbuilding & construction company has provided diverse safety & health-related education and activities to its vendors. It currently has an education system that employees and management from its vendors can join through a cyber-construction safety & health academy. From now on, day workers including construction foremen would also be able to use the system. HJSC also recommended its vendors to the Safety & Health Management System Consulting Program organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA), and three of them have been chosen. 

The South Korean construction company has also performed safety & health inspection which makes all directors as well as the CEO visit and check construction sites every month. Thanks to such efforts, HJSC has been able to accomplish ‘Zero Serious Accident’ 3 years in a row. 

CEO Hong Moon-ki said, “We have achieved ‘Zero Serious Accident’ for 3 consecutive years. It is not easy to accomplish this as a large constructor. We have been able to make this happen through win-win partnership with our vendors.” He continued, “To extend ‘Zero Serious Accident’ for the 4th year, we will take occupational safety & health and quality our top priority.”
