On February 23, HHIC held a ceremony for the delivery of the ‘Taegeuk V,’ a 500-ton salvage vessel. The
‘Taegeuk V’ is a state-of-the-art coast guard & rescue ship equipped with a high-speed diesel engine, water
engine and rescue boats.
This ship will be used for coast guard and rescue duties, the protection of fishermen, fishing resources and the
marine environment, and the prevention of violations of territorial waters.
HHIC has completed a total of seven salvage vessels (4 ships: 300t; 3 ships: 500t, including the ‘Taegeuk V’)
which were ordered in 2006. These ships are currently in the process of being delivered.
In addition, in December 2008, the company won a futher bid to build 9 more salvage vessels(2 units: 1,000t;
4 units: 500t; 3 units: 300t). HHIC has clearly shown its dominance in the construction of coast guard ships.
