On the 26th day, HHIC announced that it finally established a freight transport system in Subic Shipyard in the Philippines at the christening ceremony of HHIC’s MPC II.

With the attendance of about 100 officials and concerned parties including Hyo-Rim Ham, a vice chairman of HHIC Jeong-Hun Kim’s wife, a birth of HHIC-M2 was celebrated.

This 11,500-ton multi-purpose carrier (130m in length, 19.6m in width and 11.7m in height) is capable of 15.9 knots at maximum. It was built to transport shipbuilding equipment in Subic Shipyard.

HHIC already built HHIC-M1 in April and provided various shipbuilding equipment and materials such as shipbuilding plate, welding apparatus and supplies.

According to related officials, the multi-purpose carrier has played a big role for the fast growth of Subic Shipyard. In fact, the largest ship repair facility in the Philippines manufactured and delivered its first vessel in early June and launched two ships this month.

After all, the optimal freight transport system through which equipment and materials are provided on time from Busan to Subic Shipyard has made the rapid growth of Subic Shipyard possible.

Furthermore, the MPC has promoted educational exchange and cooperation between the two nations by delivering educational equipment and materials of Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education to the Philippines in September.

One of HHIC officials said, “In fact, a MPC has played an important role in developing Subic Shipyard into the world-class dockyard with the world’s most efficient production system.” He added, “In together with HHIC-M1, HHIC-M2 will be used in delivering shipbuilding equipment and materials. I hope it would deliver the artisan spirit of Korean shipbuilding as well as freight.”
